Port Moresby recently hosted a significant gathering at the Hilton Hotel recently, where Rabbi Rabin and Israeli Ambassador Roi addressed the Papua New Guinea-Israel Jewish Council (PNGIJC). The event drew a strong turnout, reflecting growing interest in Israel’s place in global affairs and its deepening ties with Papua New Guinea.
In their remarks, both Rabbi Rabin and Ambassador Roi spoke about the enduring values that sustain Israel — faith, resilience, and innovation — while also highlighting Israel’s willingness to share expertise in agriculture, technology, and nation-building with partners in the Pacific. They emphasized the importance of solidarity with Israel, especially at a time when misinformation and political hostility often distort the reality of the Israel-Palestine conflict.
The speakers acknowledged the challenges Israel faces daily, from security threats and terror attacks to the propaganda war that has become a modern battlefield. Yet, they underlined that Israel’s struggle is not only about survival but also about preserving democratic ideals and contributing positively to the world.
For Papua New Guineans, the message was clear: friendship with Israel carries both moral weight and practical opportunity, offering a pathway for stronger cooperation between our nations.
