What is "Lev Tziyon"?
Lev Tziyon (לֵב צִיּוֹן) is a Hebrew phrase that translates to “Heart of Zion.” In Hebrew, Lev (לֵב) means “heart,” representing the core, essence, or inner spirit of a person or people. Tziyon (צִיּוֹן) refers to “Zion,” a biblical name for Jerusalem and, more broadly, the Land of Israel. Together, Lev Tziyon carries the deep symbolic meaning of the spiritual center of the Jewish people—the heart that beats within Zion. It expresses love, longing, and connection to Jerusalem, and in Jewish thought and tradition, it often reflects both a physical homeland and a profound spiritual identity.
